Chris Balshaw is a leader in the Building Consultancy team as a specialist cost manager and Chartered Quantity Surveyor. Chris brings significant experience in the healthcare and residential sectors, and particular expertise in the strategic planning, procurement and delivery of complex high-acuity projects in live hospital environments. This is supplemented with a breadth of experience across many other sectors including retail, commercial, leisure, education and industrial, with heritage aspects being a part of many projects.
Based in the Manchester office, he works closely with project managers and building surveyors, supporting the wider business offer with ad-hoc cost advice wherever necessary.
His career has covered projects with values ranging from £50,000 to £1.2bn, across new build and refurbishment schemes, from paper mills to cancer treatment facilities, operating theatres to zoos, and affordable housing to high security psychiatric wards.
Before joining Newmark, Chris was a Partner at Todd & Ledson, where he played a key role in leading a 25-strong team and delivering cost consultancy solutions. Following Todd & Ledson’s acquisition by Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) UK in 2019, Chris was integral to the firm’s transition and integration, leading on healthcare in the Northwest and broadening its sector service capabilities nationally.
