I’m a leader at Newmark, specialising in minerals and waste management. I advise operators, lending institutions, landlords and other interested parties on all property aspects of mineral bearing land, quarries, waste management facilities, wharves, railheads, industrial land and specialist industrial property.
I have over 30 years’ experience in the minerals and waste management property sectors. I am an experienced Expert Witness and have presented successful evidence at Lands Tribunal.
I am on the RICS Presidents Panels as an Arbitrator and Independent Expert and also act as a single Joint Expert. I provide advice regarding Valuation, Compulsory Purchase, Landlord & Tenant, Agency and Rating.
My clients include Aggregate Industries, Breedon, Cemex, Hanson, Tarmac and Threadneedle.
Recent Projects
- Arbitration – I was appointed by the RICS to resolve a dispute regarding the correct interpretation of certain lease terms. I held a week’s oral hearing before making award. The amount in dispute was circa. £10M.
- Compulsory Purchase – I negotiated CPO compensation for a railhead and concrete batching plant that was compulsorily acquired. I negotiated a deferred acquisition date, enhanced business interruption payments including the cost of temporary plant and a new permanent replacement plant.
- Expert Witness – I have presented successful Expert Witness evidence at Lands Tribunal regarding the appropriate level of compensation due for minerals sterilised by powerlines.
