Law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP (Orrick) has committed to leasing more than one-third of 1152 15th St. NW, a 390,000-square-foot, Class A office facility known as Columbia Center.
Now under construction, the $175 million project is located in D.C.’s East End submarket and scheduled for completion in August 2007. Orrick will occupy 138,000 square feet across five floors, including the first, ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th floors, according to Newmark’s Aaron Katz, Pat Nalls and Tony Gould, who represented Orrick in the lease transaction. The firm is the first to prelease at the 1152 15th St. address by signing a 15-year commitment with property owner MR Post LLC, which was represented in-house by Doug Olson and Bethany Allen.
“Columbia Center is a perfect fit for Orrick as we continue to grow a dynamic, thriving practice in the nation’s capital,” said Felicia Graham, leader of Orrick’s Washington office. “We’re excited about having a presence in the hub of Washington’s business community.”
“After more than a decade in Washington, Orrick has grown into a diverse, 75-lawyer firm distinguished for its practices in securities and complex commercial litigation, finance law and corporate law, including tax and bankruptcy,” said Cam Cowan, a partner at Orrick in Washington and member of the firm’s Executive Committee. “Moving to Columbia Center is the right place for us to go at the right time.”
Orrick currently occupies roughly 80,000 square feet in Georgetown’s Washington Harbour complex. With its Columbia Center address, Orrick offices will be near the White House and next to the Washington Post building.
