Daniel J. Foster has joined Newmark Global Corporate Services as Senior Managing Director, Consulting. Foster brings over 18 years of experience managing corporate site selection engagements, business incentives projects and economic development consulting assignments
According to Robert Hess, executive managing director of Newmark’s Global Corporate Services Group and Practice Lead for the firm’s Location Strategy and Optimization service line, “Foster is a well known expert in the location advisory business and brings a wealth of business expansion and rationalization management skills to the team. Foster has successfully completed over 100 projects for Fortune 1000 companies in the aerospace, automotive, consumer products, financial services, telecommunications, energy, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverage production and packaging industries. Recent clients include ZF Group North American Operations, Inc., Rieter Automotive North America, Inc, Charles River Laboratories, ITT Electronic Systems, International Automotive Components Group North America, Federal-Mogul Corporation and Gannett Corporation, and The Enterprise Group of Jackson, Inc.
Prior to joining Newmark Global Corporate Services, Foster was a director in Duff and Phelp’s global business incentives advisory practice based in Detroit, Mich. He also served as a senior manager and regional practice leader with Deloitte & Touche in its credit and incentives practice; and as a senior manager, business incentives services, with Ernst & Young LLP.
In addition to Foster’s core proficiencies, he has significant experience advising clients in areas such as manufacturing rationalization and consolidation, relocation feasibility, strategic cost reduction, large capital investment program management, commercial and industrial site evaluation and due diligence methods, detailed labor market/workforce analysis and public sector economic development strategies.
Foster has spoken on a variety of economic development topics at Tax Executive Institute, the New Mexico Governor’s Summit on Economic Development, Expansion Management’s Roundtable in the Rockies and at various local economic development organizations and Chambers of Commerce. Foster has also provided expert testimony to the Michigan Senate and House Joint Select Committee on Economic Growth. He is a member of the Michigan Economic Developers Association (MEDA).
Foster holds a B.A. in Economics from Hope College, Holland, Mich., and received a master’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning from the A. Alfred Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.
