Newmark announces the appointments of Steve Williamson as Managing Director and Matthew Kang as Associate to Newmark’s Debt & Structured Finance UK & EMEA Capital Markets team in London. The pair will work with Michael Lehrman, President of Newmark, UK and Matthew Featherstone, Newmark’s Head of Debt & Structured Finance UK & Europe and also work closely with Charlie Foster, Head of Real Estate Investment Banking, UK & Europe, of Newmark affiliate Cantor Fitzgerald, on large scale debt and structured finance assignments.
“Steve is one of the longest-serving debt advisory veterans in the UK, and his expertise in leading complex, large-ticket transactions, as well as his extensive UK banking experience, will be an incredible complement to the team – led by Featherstone in the UK, and Globally by Jonathan Firestone and Jordan Roeschlaub, as well as Anthony Orso, Head of Newmark Capital Strategies, in the U.S.,” said Lehrman. “Steve and Matthew are poised to contribute significantly to the enhancement of our global capital markets platform, as we seek to broaden our offerings and sustain our advisory services to a diverse group of institutions and investment banks.”
Williamson previously served as Chairman, Debt & Structured Finance for CBRE where for 13 years he led debt origination for the UK and EMEA working on some of the largest, complex and most iconic transactions. Prior to CBRE, Williamson spent over 25 years in the banking and finance industries as a market-leading real estate lending and debt professional, most recently as the Head of UK Debt Origination for Deutsche Bank. Based in London, Kang brings expertise in the real estate finance sector as both a debt advisor and lender, having previously served as Associate Director, Debt & Structured Finance at CBRE following a career in banking.
The onboarding of Williamson and Kang is yet another milestone as Newmark continues to expand its debt, equity, corporate finance and capital markets business across the UK and Europe, following the appointment of Featherstone to head up debt for the region, the acquisition of London-based real estate advisory firms BH2, Gerald Eve LLP and Harper Dennis Hobbs and the landmark hires Newmark has made adding capital markets leaders in its Paris office.
