Newmark announces that investment sales expert Yashar Khalighi has joined the firm as a Senior Managing Director. Based in Vancouver, Khalighi specializes in the acquisition and disposition of high-income properties and development land throughout British Columbia. Bringing more than a decade of brokerage experience and an extensive background in planning, construction and development, Khalighi leverages a holistic understanding of commercial real estate to drive impactful outcomes in the market.
In his role, Khalighi will report to President and Country Head for Canada Norm Taylor and will play a key role advancing the firm’s Capital Markets platform in Canada while focusing on institutional and private capital investment in commercial real estate.
“We are thrilled to have Yashar Khalighi join our growing team, a move that underscores Newmark’s commitment to expanding our presence in Canada,” said Taylor. “Yashar’s arrival signals a new chapter of growth, as we continue to attract top-tier talent to elevate our service offerings.”
Before joining Newmark, Khalighi was a Vice President at CBRE, where he spent nearly six years honing a successful track record of advising new Canadian international buyers in acquiring income-producing and development properties in Greater Vancouver. Prior, he was a top-level producer at the Vancouver-based boutique firm Macdonald Commercial. Throughout his career, Khalighi has played a pivotal role in orchestrating numerous high-profile transactions, the latest being Strawberry Hill Shopping Centre, the largest retail sale transaction in British Columbia for 2023.
“Newmark’s visionary approach to scaling its platform is both promising and exciting,” said Khalighi. “The strength of the firm’s Capital Markets practice has set a benchmark of excellence and exemplifies a model for Canada. I look forward to contributing to our collective success and to the innovative advancements ahead to further enhance my client service capabilities.”
Khalighi’s achievements are exemplified through various recognitions, most notably he was honoured by CoStar as one of Vancouver’s Top 2023 Sales Brokers.
