Newmark Retail announces the firm has secured a new 12,000-square-foot retail lease for Blinds to Go at 116 Seventh Avenue in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood. The outpost will serve as the tenant’s New York City flagship and span three floors, including the lower-level, ground floor and second floor. Newmark Vice Chairman Ariel Schuster and Managing Director Mitch Heifetz
represented the tenant in the transaction.
“We have been working collaboratively with the tenant over the last year to identify a suitable location to establish its downtown presence,” said Heifetz. “This corner flagship is truly a prestigious location for a company that is in full growth mode, situated amongst like retailers and in a furniture-focused corridor of the city.”
Blinds to Go, founded in 1954, was drawn to the property’s all-glass facade, matching Blinds to Go’s prototype for its locations. In addition to their location in Chelsea, the tenant secured its first location in Manhattan’s Upper East Side neighborhood, which is slated to debut in early Spring 2025 followed closely by the Chelsea flagship.
Formerly occupied by the furniture brand EQ3, 116 Seventh Avenue is regarded as a retail jewel box in downtown Manhattan. The property is surrounded by prominent brands, including Williams-Sonoma, Safavieh Home Furnishings, Shane & CoNew York and other home furnishing flagships. Nearby public transportation hubs include MTA’s 1-line at 18th Street and MTA’s 1-2-3 line at 14th Street, among others.
