Newmark Valuation & Advisory (V&A) is pleased to announce that Douglas L. Nickel, MAI, FRICS and Michael Silverman, MAI, CRE, MRICS have been promoted to leadership positions to further strengthen Newmark V&A’s presence in the Mid-Atlantic region. Nickel has been promoted to Senior Managing Director and Market Leader for the District of Columbia, Maryland, Northern Virginia and Delaware region; and Silverman has been promoted to Senior Managing Director, serving as Market Co-Leader for Eastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, alongside Senior Managing Director, Joseph D. Pasquarella, MAI, CRE. Both Nickel and Silverman will report to U.S. Practice Lead, Helene Jacobson, MAI, MRICS.

Nickel, based in Washington, DC, has valued real estate throughout the Mid-Atlantic region since the mid‐1980s. His experience encompasses a broad spectrum of property types, with a focus on investment-grade real estate. In addition, he is qualified as an expert witness for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and U.S. District Court, as well as various state and local courts and boards. Prior to joining Newmark, Nickel worked at Integra Realty Resources serving most recently as Senior Managing Director, until joining Newmark in 2017.
Silverman, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has valued commercial real estate throughout the Mid-Atlantic region for nearly three decades. An expert in all core property types, he is well known for appraisals and consulting of complex and atypical properties. Silverman has been qualified as an expert witness in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the Court of Common Pleas and local courts and boards. He has provided commercial real estate valuation instruction for continuing education at Temple University’s Real Estate Institute. Prior to Newmark, Silverman was a Managing Director at Integra Realty Resources until joining Newmark in 2017.
