Richard L. Klein has joined the Chicago office of Newmark as executive managing director.
A real estate professional with more than 30 years of experience, Klein’s professional focus is advocating for corporate tenants by analyzing their space requirements and negotiating their transactions.
Klein was a leasing director for the first eight years of his career with Chicago based Metropolitan Structures, the developer of Illinois Center, and then two years with Tishman Speyer Properties. Klein was responsible for leasing more then eight million square feet of Class A office space in various downtown Chicago locations for these two landlord developers. Additionally, he was Director of Leasing for all of the Illinois Center retail, which was more than 300,000 SF at the time.
Klein formed Corporate Realty Consultants, in 1987, a firm devoted exclusively to advising tenants on their corporate real estate needs. Over the next 20 years, he negotiated more than $2.5 billion worth of leases in transactions totaling more than two million square feet, providing tenant representation services to clients that included Kemper Financial Services, Korea Exchange Bank, Peat Marwick & Mitchell, and ESPN.
“Richard’s knowledge and the respect he enjoys in the real estate community will benefit everyone in our office,” said Newmark Chicago office Managing Principal Kevin Duckler. “The experience and expertise he brings from doing more than 10 million square feet-worth of deals in over 30 years in the business will be a great contribution to the positive transformation this Newmark office will be undergoing in the near term.”
