Austin Smith is a Director with Newmark’s Multifamily Capital Markets Debt & Structured Finance group, based in the Tysons Office. He works alongside Robert Younkin and Garrett Meyers from Newmark’s Los Angeles office to originate a diverse range of multifamily mortgage products, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA loans. Their expertise spans market-rate, student, senior, and affordable housing, serving private capital, middle-market, and institutional clients. Additionally, the team is a leader in manufactured housing lending, with annual production averaging $400 million.
Before joining Newmark, Smith held the position of Production Manager at PGIM, where he led one of the company’s premier production teams, averaging over $1.1 billion in loans annually. Before his role in production, Smith excelled in Agency underwriting, successfully closing over 170 transactions and achieving more than $4.3 billion in loan opportunities. Prior to his tenure at PGIM, Smith served as a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton.

Smith graduated from Washington & Lee University, where he earned a B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration.
