Ben Johnson is a Managing Director for the Multifamily Capital Markets team in Newmark’s Houston office and specializes in working with multifamily developers on equity, debt, land, and investment advisory transactions. As a previous developer, Johnson utilizes his diverse skill set to serve clients from land acquisition, capitalization, and ultimately product disposition. His experience includes assembling complex capital stacks for new developments, including joint venture equity, preferred equity, and various construction debt products. He also works with the firm’s investments sales platform on valuations, dispositions, and recapitalizations for multifamily properties. Additionally, Mr. Johnson partners with the land team on select and strategic land listings.
Prior to joining Newmark, Johnson was a Vice President of Development for Trammell Crow Residential - Gulf Coast Division. He previously served as a Director for Newmark and a Senior Associate for a boutique commercial mortgage banking firm. Since the start of his real estate career, Johnson has personally been involved in approximately $3.0 billion in capital markets, investment advisory, and development transactions.
Education
A native Houstonian, Johnson received his Masters of Land Economics and Real Estate and his Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from Mays Business School at Texas A&M University.
