Brendan McBreen serves as a Senior Managing Director & Chief Underwriter for Newmark’s Debt & Structured Finance group within the Multifamily Capital Markets division. Based in Santa Monica, CA, McBreen is primarily responsible for the co-management and oversight of the group’s Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac underwriting efforts nationwide.
Before joining Newmark in 2021, McBreen spent almost nine years in the Multifamily Division at Freddie Mac, during which time he served in both production and underwriting capacities. Most recently, he was the Senior Director of Underwriting & Credit in charge of the Western Region, where he led a 25-person team responsible for underwriting more than 700 transactions totaling in excess of $16B annually; he had individual transactional approval authority up to $75M.
Prior to his time at Freddie Mac, McBreen enjoyed successful stints at PNC Bank, where he focused on small to middle market Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loan production, at RBS Greenwich Capital, where he worked on CMBS transactions across all commercial property types, and at Washington Mutual, where he assisted in the production of multifamily balance sheet loans.
McBreen is a proud husband and father of three semi-spoiled children and two extremely spoiled COVID puppies.

McBreen graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in history.
