Brent J. Dickey ABV, CEIV, MAI, joined Newmark Valuation & Advisory in 2020 as an Executive Vice President in the Austin office. Dickey brings to his position more than 25 years of professional experience in the valuation of commercial real estate, intangible assets and closely held businesses. He has completed market value appraisals of all commercial property types, including office, industrial, multifamily, mixed-use and retail (including regional malls and shopping centers). Most recently, Dickey served as a director and business valuation practice leader with Hopkins Appraisal Services, where he specialized in appraisals of hotels, restaurants, convenience stores, gas stations and truck stops. Clients included public MLPs, public and private corporations, lenders, franchisors and major oil companies. Dickey also has more than 13 years of experience in public accounting.
Dickey joined Newmark after more than eight years with Hopkins Appraisal, as a director and head of the business valuation practice prior to the firm’s acquisition by Newmark in 2020. Previously, Dickey was a senior manager at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services for two years, following its acquisition of Avail Consulting, a valuation consulting firm he helped found in 2002. Dickey began his career in valuation in 1995 with Arthur Andersen, serving as a manager there until 2002.
Going Concern - SBA
Per Chapter 4 of the SBA’s SOP 50, Dickey has, within the last 36 months, completed no less than four going concern appraisals of special use properties (car wash, gas station with or without a convenience store, restaurant, etc.).

Education
Dickey earned a Masters in land economics and real estate from Texas A&M University at College Station. He also earned a BBA in finance from The University of Texas at Austin. More recently, he has successfully completed numerous courses and seminars sponsored by the AICPA, Appraisal Institute, accredited universities, and others under the continuing education requirements of the AICPA and Appraisal Institute.
