David Malawer joined Newmark as a Senior Managing Director in June 2014. Specializing in business development, Malawer works in the company’s New York headquarters and Downtown New York office. Malawer brings to the company 20 years of experience representing both tenants and landlords in the Midtown, Midtown South, Downtown and Brooklyn markets. He has completed more than a half million RSF of transactions in Brooklyn in the past five years alone.
Malawer joined Newmark after 17 years with Cushman & Wakefield, where he most recently served as a Senior Director. Malawer began his corporate real estate career with the Williams Real Estate Company, where he was an Associate from December 1993 to April 1996.
Prior to joining Newmark, Malawer was the leasing agent for 395 Hudson Street, a 600,000-square-foot Class B office building in Manhattan’s Hudson Square District, where he leased 200,000 square feet to the City University of New York and 170,000 square feet to Newsweek; and 1385 Broadway, a 465,000-square-foot Class B office Building on the border of Manhattan’s Time Square South and Garment districts, where he leased more than 200,000 square feet of space.
Malawer’s completed agency work includes two Class A office buildings in Manhattan’s Plaza District: 590 Madison Avenue, with 1,030,000 square feet; and 625 Madison Avenue, with 565,000 square feet. He also successfully represented the owner of 250 West 57th Street, a 496,000-square-foot Class B office building in Manhattan’s Columbus Circle District.
