Derek Fohl joined Newmark in 2019 and co-leads Newmark’s Midwest Capital Markets team in the company’s Chicago office. Fohl and his partners Jim Postweiler, Peter Harwood, Jack Trager, and Mark Lyman focus on dispositions and recapitalizations of office and industrial properties in the Chicago area and throughout the Midwest by leveraging Newmark’s nationwide network of local professionals. Fohl develops and executes sales strategies to maximize value for his clients.
His diverse real estate career has taken him through asset services, agency leasing, institutional investment properties, debt and equity finance. In addition, he has provided insurance brokerage and risk management services for real estate owners, operators and developers. For the majority of his career, Fohl has focused on office capital markets and his 20 years of real estate and leadership experience has created a backdrop for his successful client relationships and industry reputation.
Prior to joining Newmark, Fohl served as a Senior Vice President at JLL as well as held positions at CBRE, Next Realty and Arthur J. Gallagher. To date, he has closed more than $3 billion worth of capital markets transactions.
