Ela joined Newmark in 2023 as a Director in the firm’s Boston office. She has been in the retail real estate industry for six years and specializes in both landlord and tenant representation. Prior to joining Newmark Hazar was a member of the Urban Retail Team at CBRE where she quickly excelled, mainly focused on tenant strategy and the future of retail.
Hazar has assisted both regional and international brands with their multi-store rollouts throughout Greater Boston and Cambridge, including Blank Street Coffee, Bond Vet, Van Leeuwen’s, F45, Chip City Cookies, and Skin Laundry, among many others. Her team has helped bring a multitude of high street retailers and restaurants to some of Boston’s most iconic and emerging neighborhoods. Some notable transactions include bringing brands like Frame, Jenni Kayne, Lazzoni, and Studs to Boston’s Newbury Street.
Hazar is also passionate about the city’s ever-growing culinary scene. She recently worked on assisting multi-unit, national operators like Menya Jiro and Limani Mediterranean to expand their footprint to Boston’s newest Seaport neighborhood. Additionally, she has helped local favorites like Flat Top Johnnies with their new 6,500 sf Cambridge flagship, and Boston’s newest supper club, HUE, with its new 10,500 sf flagship location in the iconic Copley Square Hotel.
On the landlord side, Hazar has experience representing and partnering with prominent ownership groups throughout the city, such as Asana Partners, Boston Properties, Deutsche Bank, RMR Group, Wilder Companies, Harvard University, BioMed Realty, and Novartis.
Hazar is a graduate of the University of North Carolina where she was the all-time assist leader and a member of the 2016 National Championship women’s lacrosse team. She is a dual citizen of the UK and US, and a former member of the Women’s English National Lacrosse team. Hazar is also fluent in Turkish.
