Janey Steinmetz joined Newmark’s Stamford, Connecticut, office in 2017 and currently serves as a Managing Director, working directly with Executive Vice President and Managing Director, James Ritman.
Steinmetz’s core business is the corporate real estate strategy and transaction management of multimarket companies, with a focus on representation of firms in the financial and insurance sectors. She has completed deals in 7 countries and over 20 states.
Steinmetz has extensive experience in representing both tenants and landlords in a broad spectrum of transactions and takes pride in developing and executing thoughtful and creative real estate solutions that align with each of her client’s unique business objectives, spanning over the office, retail, and industrial sectors.
Steinmetz represents many well-respected hedge funds and private equity firms, including Lone Pine Capital, L Catterton, Marblegate Asset Management, and Performance Trust Capital Management. Steinmetz spearheads the W.R. Berkley account, an NYSE Fortune 500 company which has 55 business units across 200+ offices globally.

Prior to Newmark, Steinmetz was an associate with MSC Retail for three years in the firm’s Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office, where she represented the University of Pennsylvania on both planning and leasing its 350,000-square-foot retail portfolio.

Steinmetz graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and consumer psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.
