Jeff Fishman serves as a Vice Chairman of Newmark’s recently formed Private Client Group, which focuses on investment sales transactions valued in excess of $25 million. A 30-year veteran of the real estate industry, he has executed transactions involving all types of real estate. Fishman’s expertise has been invaluable to owners and investors in the investment sales transactions he has arranged on their behalf, which are valued in excess of $3 billion.
Fishman has been involved in transactions throughout the U.S. Most recently, he orchestrated the sale of NYREIT’s New York City retail portfolio, comprising seven properties totaling 90,000 square feet for approximately $100 million. He also was responsible for the record sale of a three-building, 53,000-square-foot retail portfolio on Lincoln Road in South Beach, Florida, for $139 million.
Other notable deals include the sale of the 268,750-square-foot 303 East 83rd Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for $170 million. This luxury residential building features 261 units with 11,520 square feet of retail space and a 115-car garage at its base. Fishman also sold the fee position at One Superior Place in Chicago for $80 million, which occurred simultaneously with the $220 million sale of the leasehold of an 800-unit high-rise residential building containing 58,000 square feet of retail space.
Additionally, Fishman sold the unsubordinated the ground lease of a 752-unit, 34.6-acre apartment complex in Fairfax, Virginia, and of Marina Terrace in Marina Del Ray, California. On behalf of the two sellers, Fishman arranged the simultaneous sale to a public REIT of the leasehold and fee interest of a 500-unit apartment building on 5.6 acres for $165.25 million.
Fishman has also been involved in selling and acquiring numerous retail-driven assets throughout New York City on behalf of both buyers and sellers, including REITs such as Acadia Realty Trust and Vornado Realty Trust as well as numerous private investors.
Fishman joined Newmark in 2019, following the acquisition by parent company Newmark Group, Inc., of RKF. Prior to RKF, he was the president and CEO of One Liberty Properties, Inc., a public REIT. He previously served as a managing director with Cogswell Properties, LLC, a real estate owner and manager in New York City. His many earlier career accomplishments include representing ownership in negotiating a 23-year lease extension with Marriott International, Inc., for its 800,000-square-foot headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. In addition, he was involved as a principal in the purchase of the 1 million-square-foot building located at 60 Broad Street in New York City.

Fishman is a licensed associate broker in the state of New York and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Active in his community, he is involved in the Anti-Defamation League and has served on the Young Leadership Board of Seeds of Peace, an organization focused on conflict resolution among youths from the Middle East.

Fishman earned a Juris Doctorate degree from St. John’s University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree from State University of New York College at Oneonta.
