Jeff Mayer joined Newmark Valuation & Advisory’s Hospitality, Gaming & Leisure (HGL) practice in 2018, currently serves as an Executive Vice President in the New York City office, and oversees the HGL practice in the Northeast. In this role, Mayer is responsible for business development; aggressively recruiting top hospitality appraisal professionals; continuing to provide outstanding service to clients; third-party appraisal review services; and overseeing a team of appraisers in the Tri-State and New England regions. Mayer brings more than 15 years of hospitality experience to his position, performing valuation and consulting services throughout the U.S. during his tenure.
Mayer has successfully completed assignments for a wide range of lodging property types including full and partial interest assets, single-use and mixed-use properties ranging from ultra-luxury to economy hotels in both urban and suburban markets. Additionally, Mayer has experience appraising office buildings, retail centers, residential condominium developments and apartment complexes, land subdivides, homeless shelters, amusement parks and resort properties, as well as commercial and residential land. Clients include commercial banks, investment funds, pension funds, life insurance companies, developers, special servicers, hotel and timeshare companies, and law firms.
Prior to joining Newmark, Mayer worked for five years in CBRE’s New York City Valuation and Advisory Services division, most recently as a Vice President. Prior to CBRE, Mayer worked out of the New York office for HVS (Hospitality Valuation Services), performing valuations and feasibility studies for a variety of lodging assets in more than 50 markets across 25 states.
Outside of valuation, Mayer owned and operated three restaurants of his own, and grew up in a family that owned and operated restaurants. Additionally, he worked in a hospitality capacity for multiple consulting firms. Coupled with his master’s degree from the School of Hospitality Management at Cornell University and his involvement in the Cornell Hotel Society, he has earned a reputation as a knowledgeable hospitality expert.
