John DeGroot has been with the firm since 2001. As Director of Research in Detroit, he is responsible for overseeing extensive data collection, verification, tracking and analysis via internal and external sources for the Metro Detroit office and industrial markets. He has written over 50 quarterly market reports over seven years that focus on Metro Detroit’s economy and trends in the industrial and office markets. DeGroot is also responsible for analyzing real estate transactions from both a financial and accounting perspective. Prior to joining Newmark, he graduated from Michigan State University’s James Madison College with a degree in political economy. After graduating, he worked for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as a research assistant tracking emerging high-technology companies and researching venture capital firms.
DeGroot is a licensed Michigan real estate salesperson and Certified Commercial Investment Manager. He has completed:
