Jon Krisbergh serves as the Deputy General Counsel of Newmark where he oversees the commercial legal team representing the company’s operating businesses. The commercial team is responsible for contract drafting and negotiation and advising business leaders on various matters including regulatory compliance and licensing, client management, risk mitigation, conflict management, fee disputes and other matters related to the company’s various business lines.
With over a decade in the industry, Mr. Krisbergh has served as a trusted legal counselor and advisor to commercial real estate companies and leaders. He spent seven years as a senior in-house lawyer at a commercial real estate brokerage company where he managed a global team of lawyers handling commercial contracting, litigation, employment, corporate governance, regulatory and compliance, and business operations. He also spent several years in private practice where he focused on advising real estate service providers on all aspects of operating a commercial real estate brokerage.
Mr. Krisbergh started his career at two large law firms, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and Boies Schiller & Flexner, where he represented financial services clients in high-stakes commercial litigation and dispute management.
Education & Government Service
Mr. Krisbergh earned his J.D., Cum Laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2006 and his B.A. in Economics from Duke University in 2001.
Mr. Krisbergh served as a federal law clerk to Judge Richard M. Berman in the Southern District of New York and as a legislative aid to Congressman Joseph M. Hoeffel (from Pennsylvania).
