Kenneth H. Cox has more than 25 years of experience in the self storage sector. His broad range of experience within the industry, which includes assignments with a publicly traded REIT, as a principal and, most recently, in the brokerage arena, has given Cox an in-depth and diverse perspective on the asset class. To date, Cox has led in excess of $6 billion in self storage transactions.
Previously, Cox spent several years as the general partner in several partnerships focused on acquiring, operating and ultimately disposing of self-storage assets. His experience as a principal in self storage acquisition and disposition enhances his ability to maximize clients’ profitability in such transactions.
Earlier in his career, Cox was a member and senior vice president of Jernigan Property Group, LLC. In this position, he managed real estate activities in a successful effort to assemble a self storage portfolio through acquisitions of existing facilities. The company acquired assets throughout the country, enhanced operations by implementing best practices and then sold its holdings to U-Stor-It.
Cox began his real estate career at Storage USA, Inc., where for eight years he held various positions as an acquisitions, dispositions and business development officer. During his tenure there, Cox played a key role in self storage transactions totaling more than $900 million. In addition to his business development responsibilities, he served on various leadership committees tasked with improving critical functions within the company.
