Laurel C. Barsa, MAI, joined Newmark Valuation & Advisory in 2018 and currently serves as an Executive Vice President and as the head of the multifamily team located in the Denver, Colorado office. In this role, Barsa is responsible for business development; providing outstanding service to clients; and overseeing a team of multifamily specialists that cover Colorado, Wyoming and Montana.
Since beginning her career in valuation in 2000, Barsa has worked with clients on a wide variety of property types including office buildings, shopping centers, warehouses and distribution facilities, development sites, self storage facilities and mixed-use properties. She is proficient in computer applications related to real estate valuation, including discounted cash flow analysis. Special assignments have included an organic dairy, a seminary, fractured condominium interests and airplane hangars. She has also been called upon as an expert witness for real estate tax appeals.
Barsa’s specialty is multifamily housing, including conventional existing and proposed properties, senior citizen housing, manufactured housing and student housing, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. She specializes in HUD appraisals and market studies for both market-rate and affordable properties. She has extensive experience with Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and Section 8 programs, performing market studies compliant with the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) guidelines for proposed development as well as Rent Comparability Studies for HUD Section 8 properties.
Barsa joined Newmark from Integra Realty Resources where she most recently served as a senior managing director for the Denver office.
