As an Associate Director in Newmark’s New York office, Mai Shachi specializes in retail leasing, with a dual focus on representing both landlords and tenants throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Her portfolio consists of a diverse mix of tenants ranging from national to local retailers aiming to expand their footprint within New York City. Shachi plays a pivotal role in the team that exclusively represents Levain Bakery, aiding in the establishment of four new storefronts across Manhattan and Brooklyn, alongside strategizing for the brand’s future growth.
Shachi was instrumental in introducing Rosetta Bakery to the New York market from Miami, securing its first location at 1930 Broadway, and facilitating high-profile deals in Bryant Park and Times Square, and steering the brand’s continued expansion strategy. Her portfolio extends to brands like lululemon, Away Luggage, Two Hands Australian Café, Matouk, goodsugar, Sweet Chick, and Terra. Notably, Shachi was pivotal in locating the first NYC location for Terra and is currently actively involved in strategizing for its subsequent NYC expansions.
As part of the exclusive representation team for lululemon across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Connecticut, Shachi continues to secure significant locations, bolstering the brand’s retail strategy. She recently was involved in the opening of two new locations for the brand including 216 Columbus Avenue and 1529 Third Avenue. She also played a key role in the team representing various Amazon physical retail formats in NYC, including Amazon Books, Amazon 4 Star, and Amazon Pop Up.
Over the past year, Shachi has grown her business and now oversees more than 700,000 SF of retail space, including CIM Group’s Panorama Development in Dumbo, Brooklyn, encompassing 500,000 SF. She represents some of the city’s leading landlords such as Acadia, Premier Equities, Wharton Property Group, Madison Realty and others.
