Mark Russell joined Newmark in 2017 as a vice chairman in the company’s Houston office, where he specializes in tenant representation and corporate services. Mr. Russell’s 35 years in the real estate industry have given him a comprehensive understanding of the challenges facing organizations across a multitude of industries and markets. He has handled millions of square feet of complex transactions with a variety of Fortune 100 companies while acquiring broad expertise in a range of fields including acquisitions, dispositions, construction, asset management and site selection. Mr. Russell provides valuable insight into the needs of large corporate space users as well as the perspective of landlords.
By first developing a thorough understanding of his clients’ business needs, Mr. Russell has delivered strategic business solutions through real estate, rather than just attractive real estate transactions. He has acted as the tenant representative nationally for companies such as Bank of America, Harland Clarke, JPMorgan Chase and Schlumberger.
Prior to Newmark, Mr. Russell was executive vice president and branch manager of Savills Studley’s Houston office. During his tenure at Savills Studley, he consistently ranked among the firm’s top producers and was named the top producer companywide.
Previously, Mr. Russell was senior vice president at Trione & Gordon, where he was involved with all aspects of tenant representation. He also served as president of Prime Asset Leasing and asset manager for the 75-story JPMorgan Chase Tower for five years and as vice president in the corporate real estate department of JPMorgan Chase (formerly Texas Commerce Bancshares) for 10 years.
Mr. Russell has been consistently recognized as a Commercial Real Estate “Heavy Hitter” by the Houston Business Journal and was a runner-up for the Office Broker of the Year.
