Marty J. Shearer, MAI, joined Newmark Valuation & Advisory in 2018 and serves as a senior vice president in the company’s Roseville, California office. Shearer is a 28-year commercial real estate veteran with substantial expertise in the appraisal of income-producing properties, including office, industrial, retail, land and various specialty properties. He also provides services for market rent and market sales transactions.
Prior to Newmark, Shearer served for two years as the principal/owner of the Sacramento office of Pacific Coast Valuation Group, a regional affiliation with offices in Portland and Seattle. From 2012 to 2016, he was senior valuation services director of Valuation & Advisory in Colliers International’s Sacramento office. The company previously operated as First Service/PGP, with Shearer serving as co-manager from 2008 to 2012, before being acquired by Colliers. He also worked as an associate director at Cushman & Wakefield from 2005 to 2007.
Prior to C&W, Shearer was a senior appraiser/team leader for Palmer, Groth & Pietka (PGP) from 1998 to 2005 in Sacramento. He began his career in commercial real estate appraisal in 1993 at Schueler, McKown & Keenan in Seattle.

Additionally, Shearer has qualified as an expert appraiser in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California in Sacramento and Sonoma counties. His past experience also includes property tax appeals (Sacramento, Placer and Yolo counties), litigation support and estate tax consultations.
Education
Shearer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Washington State University. He has also completed the requirements of the Appraisal Institute’s continuing education program
