Michael Cohen serves as a Director with Newmark in New York City. Originally from Los Angeles, Cohen specializes in both landlord and tenant representation in the New York metro area.
Cohen’s roster of landlord clients has grown to include such institutions as American Realty Capital, Broad Street Development, Hilton Development, Hines, Rubenstein Partners, Savanna and SL Green, as well as local Manhattan co-ops and investors.
On the tenant side, Cohen’s clients cover all facets of retail, including fashion, restaurants, fitness and children’s enrichment. He has worked with such notable retailers as Itsu, Juice Generation, Porsche, Rizzoli Bookstore and Suitsupply. Cohen is currently overseeing the New York rollouts of fast-casual chains Inday, Los Tacos No 1, New Leaf and &pizza, as well as the national expansion of the popular QSR concept Dig (formerly Dig Inn). Additionally, Cohen is the exclusive broker in New York City for Barry’s Bootcamp and New York Kids Club.
Some of Cohen’s most significant transactions include the relocation of Rizzoli Bookstore from its renowned 57th Street location to 1123 Broadway in the NoMAD District and the representation of Porsche Cars North America in the leasing of its new, 175,000-square-foot Manhattan dealership at 711 Eleventh Avenue. Cohen also represented the popular brand Canada Goose in opening its first ever U.S. retail store in SoHo.
Cohen rejoined Newmark in 2019, when parent company Newmark Group, Inc. acquired RKF, a New York-based retail real estate brokerage and investment firm. He had left Newmark for RKF in 2014.

Cohen is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY). He also serves on the board of Maccabi Young Leadership of New York.
Education
Cohen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communication with a minor in business from the University of Arizona.
