Michael Sheinkop joined Newmark’s corporate management and operating committee in 2010 and is currently Executive Vice President of M&A and Strategic Recruitment. Sheinkop brings over 35 years of leadership and managerial experience within the commercial real estate brokerage and financial services industry (REITs/Accounting), including executive-level responsibility for broker recruitment; corporate mergers and acquisitions; and strategic accountability to implement growth initiatives for both public and private companies. Sheinkop has extensive experience in sourcing, pricing and negotiating agent service agreements for retention, and in strategic recruitment of top brokers from every major firm in most major U.S. markets. His hiring methodology is grounded in the concept that recruiting experienced, high-integrity agents is tantamount to growing a sustainable business, a world-class brand and enterprise value for stakeholders. In addition, Sheinkop has internal board and analyst community experience, as well strategic alliance partner relationships throughout North America.
While at Newmark, Sheinkop has built the firm’s merger and acquisition capability, facilitated pipeline development and sustained the integration of Newmark’s licensee partners into the firm, as well as securing several through acquisitions. Recent company acquisitions include Newmark Grubb Acres (Salt Lake City); NAI affiliate (Milwaukee); and Harper Dennis Hobbs (London). Other enterprise growth opportunities where Sheinkop was centrally involved include Cornish & Carey (Northern California); Smith Mack (Philadelphia); Grubb & Ellis (national platform); Frederick Ross (Denver); and Regency Capital Partners (San Francisco). Sheinkop also led the formation of Newmark Canada and the Seattle/Bellevue operations. In addition, he is a member of Newmark’s National Operating Committee.

Prior to joining Newmark, Sheinkop spent approximately eight years with UGL Equis as the executive vice president of the U.S. brokerage operations. He presided as the principal fiduciary for the majority of brokerage hires, totaling well over 320. Prior to his work with UGL Equis, Sheinkop served for more than 14 years in executive management in various capacities at Equity Office Properties (EOP) for Sam Zell. Sheinkop held senior organizational and strategic responsibility as the senior vice president, divisional manager, his responsibilities included financial performance, portfolio management and operational oversight of three regions of more than 42 million square feet of office portfolio in the Southeast, Midwest and Pacific regions.

Sheinkop graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting. He was also a former practicing Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an Executive Member Specialist of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR).
