Peter Whitenack is a Senior Managing Director with Newmark, specializing in both landlord and tenant representation.
On the landlord side, Whitenack represents an impressive list of clients. His ownership representation clients include Brookfield Property Partners, Jamestown, Macklowe Properties, Hines, George Comfort & Sons, CIM Group, The Durst Organization, Kalimian Properties and JDS Development, to name a few. Whitenack is representing Macklowe Properties in the repositioning and leasing of 173,000 square feet of retail space at One Wall Street and has to date arranged leases with Whole Foods Market for 43,000 square feet and Life Time for 74,000 square feet. Whitenack and his colleagues won the 2018 REBNY award for Most Ingenious Retail Deal of the Year for the Life Time lease. Whitenack is also marketing Brookfield Properties’ Manhattan West project, where ownership is developing a 7 million-square-foot mixed-use property that sits directly between Related Companies’ Hudson Yards project and Vornado’s Moynihan Station redevelopment. Other notable transactions on behalf of ownership groups include representing The Durst Organization in its lease with Nordstrom Rack for 49,000 square feet at 855 Avenue of the Americas and JDS Development’s 100,000-square-foot lease to Life Time Fitness at its Brooklyn Tower development. He was also involved in Nordstrom’s purchase of Extell Development’s retail condominium at 225 West 57th Street.
Whitenack’s tenant representation work consists of uncovering opportunities and seeking high-profile sites for national and local tenants, including Ralph Lauren, AYR, Club Monaco, Dylan’s Candy Bar, PNC Bank, Sixpoint Brewery, Joe Coffee and Union Square Hospitality Group, among others. He completed a 53,000-square-foot lease on behalf of Under Armour for its New York City Brand House in the former FAO Schwarz space at the GM Building, located at 767 Fifth Avenue. Other notable deals include Sixpoint Brewery’s 20,000-square-foot taproom, bar and production facility in Gowanus, Brooklyn, and his representation of Club Monaco in its 11,000-square-foot lease at 597 Fifth Avenue.
