Reid Blynn, Executive Managing Director at Newmark, has been a leader in Philadelphia’s commercial real estate brokerage community for over 30 years. Blynn has completed over 1000 transactions representing over eight million square feet.
As a partner of Smith Mack, Blynn experienced the full life cycle of an entrepreneurial real estate services firm. This experience allows him to bring a broad business perspective to his corporate clients. Blynn was instrumental in growing the company into one of the most successful and respected Philadelphia-based commercial real estate brands. During his seven years as the firm’s managing partner, Blynn oversaw a host of mission-critical company initiatives including its strategic plan, new partner plan and growth of the operating platform, thereby tripling the company’s revenue. Smith Mack’s growth trend culminated in its partnership with Newmark as a licensee in 2009, an initiative also led by Blynn. This partnership provided Smith Mack clients with full access to Newmark’s impressive platform of extended real estate services. In 2012, after three years of partnership, BGC Partners, Inc., parent company of Newmark, purchased Smith Mack. Blynn was an integral part of the team that negotiated this transaction. Consequently, these experiences have afforded Blynn a unique expertise with which to address critical operational, financial and real estate issues faced by his clients.
Blynn has always maintained a robust real estate practice. Today Blynn devotes his full attention to his corporate real estate and tenant representation services practice. He has represented many Philadelphia-based corporations for corporate headquarters requirements. By concentrating his practice in representing tenant and corporate clients, Blynn is able to avoid potential conflicts with the region’s property owners, thus ensuring his clients receive the full benefit of his advocacy.
Blynn has close ties to the venture capital community and has represented many growing venture backed companies in the health care, IT and life sciences sectors. Long term relationships have enabled him to work outside of Philadelphia as his clients grow outside of the region. Presently, multi-market corporate work is the fastest growing sector of Blynn’s practice.
