Ron Lakin has focused for 30 years on agency leasing assignments for high-profile Chicago office buildings. He is a proven marketer, generating revenues for clients exceeding $2.5 billion in both urban and suburban markets.
Lakin has particular expertise in Chicago’s Central Business District, including all of the CBD’s unique submarkets. He has been responsible for initial lease-up of major new projects, as well as successful leasing strategies for value-add properties.
As Lakin rose to the top tier of Chicago’s agency leasing experts, he led teams that generated leases for more than 20 million square feet in 32 major buildings. He has served 25 of the world’s largest institutional property owners.
Prior to joining Newmark, Lakin was Senior Vice President with Bradford Allen, CBRE, Transwestern and ORIX Real Estate Equities. Earlier, he headed marketing for Golub & Company, after beginning his career with Stein & Company (Mesirow Financial).

- Increased occupancy in the 900,000-square-foot 321 North LaSalle from 78% to 93% in 12 months, adding $50 million in revenues
- Increased occupancy over six years from 73% to 92% at 150 North Wacker, adding $20 million in value.
- Negotiated and closed a lease for 166,000 square feet with General Growth at 350 West Mart, adding $180 million in revenues
- Signed a lease for 266,000 square feet with HERE for the Boeing Building, adding $40 million in revenues.
- Fully leased 2,000,000 square feet in Chicago’s then-newest office buildings, The Franklin and 203 North LaSalle, as a key member of the leasing team
