Shane T. Lovelady, MAI, CCIM, serves as a Senior Vice President for Newmark Valuation & Advisory with the Healthcare & Seniors Housing Practice in the Birmingham, Alabama office. Actively engaged in real estate valuation and consulting since 1997, Lovelady currently focuses on senior housing and health care. He has successfully completed valuations on various proposed, partially completed, renovated and existing structures throughout the country. These valuations include, but are not limited to, ambulatory surgery centers, imaging centers, renal dialysis facilities, cancer centers, long-term acute care hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, behavioral care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, independent living, assisted living, memory care facilities and rental continuing care retirement communities. In addition, Lovelady has completed senior housing market and feasibility studies throughout the U.S. He also has general experience in appraising multifamily, office, industrial, vacant land, hotels and other special use properties. Lovelady’s valuations have been used for financing, due diligence and litigation support.
Prior to joining Newmark in 2019, Lovelady served as a senior managing director for Valbridge Property Advisors, a national firm. He established its Birmingham office, where he worked to develop clients in the market and completed a variety of assignments.
Lovelady began his senior housing career as an associate at HealthTrust, a national senior housing & health care group. During his tenure at HealthTrust, which lasted a little more than eight years, he advanced through the ranks to become director of the Los Angeles office and medical office practice team lead. In an interim period, Lovelady served for two years as an associate director with Cushman & Wakefield’s Valuation & Advisory and its Senior Housing/Healthcare Industry Practice Group.
Lovelady began his career as a valuation professional with L.B. Wright & Son, Inc., a general appraisal company that has specializes in multifamily, LIHTC, HOME funds and 55+ apartments. He served for approximately six years with the firm, completing a variety of commercial and residential assignments.

Education
Lovelady is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in commerce and business administration with a concentration in real estate finance and a minor in computer technology. More recently, he successfully completed numerous real estate-related courses and seminars sponsored by the Appraisal Institute and the CCIM Institute. He is currently certified by the Appraisal Institute’s voluntary program of continuing education for its designated members.
