Stephen Banker joined Newmark to oversee assignments in the Connecticut/Westchester region. He possesses extensive leasing and management experience both as agent and owner.
From 1978 to 1985, Mr. Banker was employed by Gronich & Co., where he was vice president and leasing representative, handling leasing and consulting assignments for AT&T Information Systems, General Electric, Minolta, Ricoh, Sun Oil and General Dynamics. Mr. Banker specialized in meeting the leasing needs of computer/information management companies.
In 1985, he joined Banker & Banker Realty, Inc. in Greenwich, Connecticut. In addition to his leasing and management responsibilities, Mr. Banker developed several retail and residential projects in Connecticut and Westchester County. He retains his ownership interests while participating as a full member of the Newmark team.
Since joining Newmark in 1994, Mr. Banker has handled the sale of several major properties in the Westchester/Connecticut marketplace, including 303 South Broadway, a 200,000-square-foot Class A office building in Tarrytown, New York, owned by Goldman Sachs and J.E. Robert Companies (sold to AMTRUST Realty) and the 71,400-square-foot former Exxon Chemical World Headquarters in Darien, Connecticut, owned by The Mendik Company of New York City (sold to Hall Investments, Ltd). He also successfully completed leasing transactions on behalf of ITT Industries (52,000 square feet), Mitsubishi Imaging (30,000 square feet), NYNEX (17,422 square feet) and Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. (20,000 square feet). As consultant, he represented Japan Leasing (U.S.A.), Inc. and MBL Life Assurance Corporation.
Currently, Mr. Banker handles leasing for a number of premier office properties in Westchester/Fairfield Counties. These include Lehman Brothers’ Crosswest Office Center in White Plains, New York; the ARCHON Group’s Red Oak Corporate Park in Harrison, New York; The RREEF Funds’ Harrison Executive Park in Purchase, New York and The Mendik Company/Vornado Realty Trust’s Saxon Woods Corporate Center in Harrison, New York.
Education
Mr. Banker received a BA degree from the College of William & Mary. He is a member of the Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association as well as The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) and sits on the Board of Directors for the Real Estate Finance Association.
