Steven J. Hartwig joined Newmark in 2005 as a Financial Analyst and currently serves as the Managing Director of Financial Services. In this capacity, Hartwig provides the full range of financial services to Newmark’s diverse clientele. He specializes in quantitative analyses pertaining to commercial real estate leasing and investments.
Hartwig also develops financial structures and strategies based on client-specific financial requirements, especially the GAAP/P&L impact for public companies, partnership accounting rules for law firms and real estate tax costs for nonprofits.
Additionally, Hartwig has provided financial services to clients of Newmark’s Global Corporate Services (GCS) platform, including DeVry, Hub International and Interpublic Group.
Hartwig has worked with banks and brokers on the financial component of several transactions, helping to secure financing for 40 Worth Street, 520 Eighth Avenue and One Grand Central Place (the Lincoln Building).
In 2010, Newmark recognized Hartwig as Employee of the Year.
Prior to joining Newmark, Hartwig served as a research analyst at Phoenix Global Advisors.

Education
Hartwig earned a bachelor’s degree from Stony Brook University, where he majored in Business Management and minored in Accounting.
