Embarking on an entrepreneurial journey at sixteen, Stewart Skloss founded a Farm & Ranch infrastructure construction company that laid the groundwork for his future endeavors. Specializing in ranch-related infrastructure, this venture honed Skloss’s leadership skills and instilled a foundational understanding of the real estate ecosystem.
Education and Early Career
Skloss’s academic journey led him to the University of Texas, where he pursued a vision rooted in international business and commercial real estate. During his college years, he interned with esteemed professionals, gaining invaluable experience with architects at Pfluger and Associates, developers at Gilingwater and Associates, and high-rise visionaries led by Irving Wallerstein.
His thirst for international perspectives took him to the Universidad de Autonoma in Guadalajara, under UT’s international business program. Post-college, his career trajectory took a serendipitous turn with the Hearst Corporation in New York City, leading to roles in Hearst offices in London and eventually back to his hometown of San Antonio, Texas, as a Special Project Executive at the San Antonio Light Newspaper, now the San Antonio Express News.
Return to Commercial Real Estate
Skloss returned to his core passion for commercial real estate during a recession, learning from the ground up. Starting with a heavy highway company and a concrete company, he embraced the ethos of hard work, extending his days from dawn till dusk.
He co-founded a commercial real estate corporate service firm, catering to Fortune 500 and Global 1000 clients across central and south Texas and the U.S.-Mexican border. After two successful years and an acquisition by a globally-focused firm based in Stamford, Connecticut, Skloss honored his agreement before exploring international opportunities.
Global Experience and Current Role
Over the subsequent decade, Skloss built a mosaic of relationships and CRE projects across diverse landscapes, from Africa to Latin America, and the Middle East to Eastern Europe. His extensive experience in commercial real estate led him to Newmark, where he serves as Managing Director. Based in Austin, Texas, Skloss focuses on representing client needs in the Greater Austin, San Antonio, and El Paso Metropolitan Areas, extending to the U.S.-Mexico border.
